It’s a common misconception that by using yoga blocks, you’re somehow “cheating” in class. Nothing could be further from the truth! Yoga blocks allow students to establish a strong foundation for their yoga practice.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to use yoga blocks to focus on alignment during class:

Triangle Pose block

Triangle Pose

It’s easy to get out of alignment in Triangle Pose by reaching too far forward on your shin. Use a block to keep your arms in a straight line.

Chair Pose block

A block will also help keep your knees aligned while in chair pose. Place a block between your thighs and try to squeeze your thighs together while at the same time rotating them outward. This will add a whole other dimension to this challenging pose!

Camel Pose block

Camel Pose

Place a block between your thighs while in Camel Pose. This will help your knees from splaying outward.

Half Pigeon Pose block

Half Pigeon Pose

If you have tight hips, place the tip of a block under your sits bones. This will tilt your pelvis forward into proper alignment and make this pose more comfortable to hold.
