Teacher Training Week 8: In the End
Last weekend marked the end of CPY’s Fall Teacher Training programs across the country. Cori, along with the rest of the Grant Studio trainees, finished up with their final C1 test-out.
When Teacher Training began, Cori hoped to take away the tools to become a solid yoga teacher. In the end, Cori not only gained a strong foundation, but also took away a new perspective on embracing yoga both on and off the mat, and made a handful of life-long friends!
What was your most inspired moment of Teacher Training?
On the final day of training, it was amazing to see everyone standing up in front of students teaching. Everyone comes from different backgrounds, has different goals, and different reasons for going through Teacher Training, and we all truly came together at the end as more confident yogis. It’s crazy to look back at the first day and compare it to the last – I get chills thinking about how far we’ve all come!
Where did you find inspiration throughout Teacher Training?
I looked to others in the group—to my OMies!
What is your favorite memory of Teacher Training?
The Om circle where we all came together and united through this magical vibration. You can’t even imagine what it’s like until you experience it.
What was something unexpected you discovered through the training?
I didn’t really expect it, but I learned a lot about myself during Teacher Training. Yoga helps us see things we can’t usually see in ourselves.
How has Teacher Training helped you off the mat?
I think it has allowed me to simply be more content with where I am in my life and where I am going. It has made me more aware of my abilities to shift my own thoughts, which is so powerful. I also believe that one of the most important aspects of Teacher Training was allowing myself to be a beginner at something. So often I just stick to what I know and what I'm good at. It felt very humbling to take a beginner’s seat in something.
What are your plans now that Teacher Training is over?
I am going to take a little break, spend some time with my family for the holidays and relax before I begin the Power Yoga Extensions program in January.
How do you hope to use this new certification?
I hope to begin teaching community classes at businesses or recreational centers. Eventually, I would love to work at CorePower Yoga, and someday work on bringing yoga into schools in Denver.
Give me three words that describe Teacher Training for you:
Powerful, Inspiring and Humbling.
Thank you, Cori, for sharing your journey! You and the rest of our Teacher Trainees are inspiring.
Watch for more Teacher Training journeys as we follow students in our winter session beginning February 18th.
