Teacher Training Week 7: The Homestretch!

At the beginning of Teacher Training, Cori and the rest of the CPY Teacher Trainees thought that eight weeks seemed like an eternity. Now, in their second-to-last week of training, they’ve reached the homestretch! See what Cori has to say about these final days.

Teacher Training is almost over! What is the most significant thing you have gained from the training thus far?

I have found a new way of embracing yoga in my everyday life. I feel like I have been able to find my yoga off of the mat more than I experienced before Teacher Training. The lessons I’ve learned in Teacher Training have truly carried into my everyday life.

What was the focus this week in Teacher Training?

This week we learned about the chakras and Ayurveda – these have been the most interesting topics for me so far. It is very interesting to learn even more about the practice of yoga outside of the physical practice.

How can the chakras and Ayurveda be applied to your everyday life?

The chakras are the energy centers of the body, and Ayurveda is a natural system of medicine used to help you find balance in your diet, life habits and other natural happenings. It has been so interesting to gain perspective on health and wellness from an Eastern medicine standpoint. It has helped me understand different perspectives from the Western world in which we live.

What has challenged you this week?

I have always been a very results-driven person, and because of that, it has been tough for me to be content with where I am in my life up until now. Teacher Training has taught me to take a step back, celebrate my successes and just be. It feels so good!

Where else do you hope to evolve as both a teacher and a student in the final weeks of Teacher Training?

I’m going to work on letting my personality shine through while I’m teaching. I want my students to know who I am and let that help carry them through class!
