Power Bowl Party
I don’t know about you, but I love having friends over. There’s nothing like a good catch up session with your besties... the only downfall is that it frequently turns into a lot of cheese and a lot of wine! While I will never say no to either of those things, I’m also all about healthier options, which is why I came up with a menu idea that is just a teeny bit better for you.
The next time you have your pals over, throw a Power Bowl Party!
What does that mean? Well, “Power Bowls” have started gaining a lot of traction with healthy foodies - and for good reason! It’s a way to pack different textures, flavors and even colors into a meal that results in something super delicious and super healthy. The best part? If you don’t want to cook everything, you could split it up - potluck style!
For these Power Bowls, I made:
Spiralized Cucumbers and Red Onions • Fresh Tomatoes
Whole Wheat Pearl Cous Cous
Lay it all out for you guests, so they can choose their own ratios - each bowl can totally be different!
My favorite part about this idea is that the possibilities are endless! I follow this kind of method when I cook for myself throughout the week ALL the time. Make a bunch of brown rice or roasted veggies early in the week and then add different elements based on your mood each day! My general method for these types of bowls includes:
Grain: Cous-Cous, Brown Rice, Orzo, Barley
Protein: Chicken, Shrimp, Tofu, Beans, Lentils
Roasted Veggies: Sweet Potatoes, Asparagus, Cauliflower, Broccoli
Fresh Veggies: Cucumbers, Spinach, Tomatoes, Peppers, Avocado
Sauce: Pesto, Guacamole, Hummus, Tahini, Teriyaki
