Ayurvedic Breakfast Bowls
According to Ayurveda, the holistic science of health, there are three doshas, or energies, that make up every individual: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Changes in season or lifestyle can have a huge impact on the balance of your doshas, disrupting physiological functions in the body. Feeling anxious? It could be that your Vata dosha is off balance. Envious? That’s the Kapha dosha calling for your attention.
An effective way to balance your doshas is through your diet. Start your day with one of these personalized Ayurvedic breakfast bowls!
Vata Balancing Breakfast Bowl
½ cup quick cooking, gluten-free oats
1 cup milk
2 figs, diced
2 dates, diced
2 apricots, chopped
½ tsp cinnamon
1 inch grated fresh ginger
¼ cup pistachios
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
Directions
Combine oats, milk, fruit, and spices in a jar.
Place in the fridge and let sit overnight.
Stir in pistachios and pumpkin seeds in the morning and enjoy!
Pitta Balancing Breakfast Bowl
½ cup quick-cooking, gluten-free oats
1 cup milk
½ cup pomegranate seeds
½ cup shredded coconut
½ tsp cardamom
¼ cup walnuts, chopped
Directions
Combine oats, milk, fruit, and spices in a jar.
Place in the fridge and let sit overnight.
Stir in walnuts and coconut in the morning and enjoy!
Kapha Balancing Breakfast Bowl
½ cup amaranth
¾ cup water
¾ cup almond milk
1 apple, diced
½ cup pomegranate seeds
¼ cup walnuts
½ tsp raw honey
½ tsp cinnamon
1 inch grated fresh ginger
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
Directions
Place amaranth in water and soak overnight.
Drain amaranth in the morning and combine in a saucepan with water, milk, and spices.
Bring to a low boil, reduce heat, and let simmer for 35-40 minutes.
Top with apple, walnuts, honey, and seeds. Serve and enjoy!
