Starting a Home Apothecary
You don’t have to be an expert to add more natural remedies into your healthcare regimen! In fact, starting your own home apothecary can be pretty easy.
Healers around the world have relied on herbal remedies for thousands of years. The earth is rich with plants that provide medicinal benefits, and thanks to modern cultivating processes, a lot of them are very accessible.
Surprisingly, you won’t need to spend a ton of money on fancy tools to supply your own apothecary. Here are a few things that can be helpful:
Jars and air-tight containers: Get creative! You can use a variety of jars in different sizes, shapes and colors. Be sure to label each of your jars.
Measuring cups and/or spoons: As with following any of your favorite food recipes, you’ll need to measure out exact amounts for herbal remedies you’re making.
Blender or food processor: Either of these tools can be very helpful if a recipe calls for an ingredient to be finely chopped or ground.
Mixing bowls and spoons: Be sure to have a variety of sizes of mixing bowls and spoons to meet your specific needs.
Mortar and pestle: Not familiar? These tools have been used since ancient times to grind up substances. You can use a mortar and pestle to crush various ingredients together.
Once you have the right gear, you’ll want to stock up on various ingredients to meet your needs. Here are some suggestions to get you started, but we also recommend doing your own research to find other herbal remedies.
