Spark Joy
It has been scientifically proven that kindness can increase a person’s oxytocin (the “love hormone”) levels, energy, happiness and even lifespan. With this in mind, think of all of the good you could inspire in yourself and others by doing something kind this holiday season.
This December, try to spark joy by bringing light to others and yourself (#selfcare). No need for grand gestures, sometimes all it takes is a small act of kindness to put a smile on someone’s face:
Hold the door open for someone
Let someone skip ahead of you in line
Buy a coffee for whoever is behind you in line
Pay for a stranger’s parking meter
Leave a gas gift card at the pump
Leave a nice server a giant tip
Treat a friend to a yoga class
Take a fresh baked treat to a neighbor
Bring in treats for your coworkers
Bring treats to the fire station or police station
Run an errand for a busy friend or family member
Compliment a stranger
Leave an uplifting note for three people
Post inspirational sticky notes around your office or neighborhood
Donate clothes or household items
Donate canned goods to a food bank
Donate towels or blankets to an animal shelter
Do a good deed for a homeless person
Write a thank you note to someone
Tell your teacher something you loved about class
Make room for someone’s mat in class
Put away someone else’s block or weights
Walk or take a drive to look at holiday lights
Host a living room dance party
Have a silly, holiday photoshoot with friends or family
