There’s no shortage of things keeping you busy this time of year, from ugly sweaters to work holiday parties to finding the perfect gift to out-of-town guests. With so much going on, it’s surprisingly easy to feel overwhelmed by a full calendar and a long to-do list. Here are four tried-and-true ways to renew your joy.

Practice gratitude

Gratitude changes your perspective. Instead of dwelling on the mountain of things you need to do, shift your perspective and focus your attention on the things that you’re grateful for.

Make someone else happy

You may have heard the saying that goes, “What goes around, comes around.” If you’re in need of happiness, make someone else happy.  Text a friend and let them know how much they mean to you. Their reaction will put you in a great mood.

Embrace the present moment

If you start feeling overwhelmed by everything that you need to do, let that be a signal to yourself to take a moment to embrace what’s going on in the present moment. You are enough. You are loved. You can accomplish great things when you put your mind to it. You’ll make it through this busy time, and you’ll probably even have some fun along the way!
