Poses to Find Focus
Postures that require extra focus encourage patience and strength. If you find your mind wandering or just want a little extra challenge, try these postures to find focus.
Dancer’s Pose (Natarajasana)
Start in a Mountain pose (Tadasana)
Bend your knee and grab the inside of your ankle or arch
Lift your chest up and bend into your upper back
Reach your free arm forward and kick into your other hand
Draw your gaze forward, find your drishti (point of focus)
Toe Stand Pose (Padangustasana)
Start in mountain pose (Tadasana)
Transition to one legged mountain pose (Eka Pada Tadasana)
Place the outside of your lifted foot in your opposite hip crease for hot tree (Vrksasana)
Hinge forward from the hips, place your finger tips on the floor for balance
Bend your standing leg and begin to deepen your squat as you lower down
Draw your gaze forward, find your drishti (point of focus)
Bird of Paradise Pose (Svarga Dvijasana)
Start in Frog Squat post (Malasana)
Reach one arm behind your back, and the other under your front inner thigh
Grasp your hands together
Toe/heel your feet closer together
Rise slowly and extend your lifted foot
Draw your gaze forward, find your drishti (point of focus)
Thread the Needle Pose (Parsva Balasana)
Begin in a neutral tabletop position
Lift one arm high, rolling out the wrist
Then “thread” your lifted arm underneath your body
Allow your your shoulder and temple to comfortably rest on the ground
For an additional stretch, find a half bind (pictured)
