Breathable, moisture wicking activewear can make your practice much more comfortable than cotton, but these advanced fabrics require a little extra TLC that you may not be aware of. Here are a few tips to keep your activewear looking (and smelling!) great.

Use the Right Detergent

Getting trapped in odors out of activewear can be tricky. Did you know that there are detergents that contain enzymes specifically designed to eliminate odors that can become locked in your workout clothes? Consider using a specialized detergent to cut out the odors.

Hand Wash

Hand washing may take more time than a machine, but sometimes that's exactly what your delicate yoga clothes need. When possible, we highly recommend hand washing your activewear in cold water to help keep your yoga clothes looking better, longer.

Hang to Dry

Dryers take a heavy toll on yoga clothes. The heat can reduce the fabric’s elasticity and quickly wears out prints and detailing. Because of this, we’d suggest hanging your clothes to dry.

Don’t Leave Activewear in Your Yoga Bag

We’ve all been there before — you throw your clothes in your yoga bag after class and forget about it for three days, only to discover that a science project is growing. Get in the habit of taking your clothes out of your yoga bag as soon as you get home and washing them right away.

Avoid Fabric Softeners

While they might be a nice addition for other clothes, fabric softeners can coat your yoga clothes with a film that traps in odors and inhibits them from wicking away moisture.
