We met up with a few CPY teachers  to talk about why they love yoga, how they stay grounded outside the studio and their advice to yoga newbies.

  • 10 words or less on why I love yoga: Yoga creates a space where I can be me completely.

  • How my practice makes me stronger: At first, I thought my yoga practice was all about my body. But what I've found is that my mind strengthens and clears the more and more I practice.

  • How I stay grounded outside the studio: My family, my breath, and my mantras! In challenging situations I try to see what I've learned on my mat and how I can apply it to any other situation I experience.

  • 10 words or less on why I love yoga: It deepens and enriches my connection to the world.

  • How my practice makes me stronger: It helps me to find my balance. It encourages me to search for my physical edge, and to love whatever that is for the day. It challenges my mind to be present, even amidst the often busy pace of life. It allows my heart to grow more powerful through empathy, and love.

  • What I have gained through my practice: Life. Life in it's fullest expression. Clearer thoughts. More joy. A huge inspiring, growing, and loving community. Friends. Family. A fiance, and best friend. Love. A new home, in a great state. The best job ever.

  • 10 words or less on why I love yoga: Connection. You. Me. Togetherness. We are one.

  • How my practice makes me stronger: It grounds me. This practice is so much more than a physical workout. To me, it's a deeply connected work-in. Truly matching breath and movement together creates a mindfulness and ease on the mat that helps me navigate the ebbs and flows of my life off the mat. It helps me realize balance I have within, which allows me to dance gracefully in life's rainy moments, but also allows me to savasana in life's sunny moments.

  • My advice to beginner yogis: Practice, practice, practice. Consistency, consistency, consistency. Fall down. Get up. Find your edge. Push through it. Surprise yourself. Stay humble. Enjoy the journey.
