Instructor Spotlight - Portland
We met up with a few CPY teachers to talk about why they love yoga, how they stay grounded outside the studio and their advice to yoga newbies.
John S.
How I remain grounded outside of the studio: I try to breathe deeply and remind myself that change is constant.
A mantra/intention I frequently come back to in class: You are unique in the universe, celebrate the miracle of your life.
My advice to beginner yogis: I got this.

Daniel M.
Why I love yoga in 10 words or less: Yoga is a listening practice to hear what's happening on the inside.
How my practice makes me stronger: My practice makes me stronger because there are so many different types of yoga that when I get really good at one I can switch over to another one and then start fresh again and keep changing it up.
My advice to beginner yogis: Find a studio and commit to 2 to 3 practices per week outside of your home. When you practice around other people you feed off their energy and you push yourself harder.

Ashton J.
How I remain grounded outside of the studio: I come back to my breath. It is one thing that is a constant both on and off the mat.
A mantra/intention I frequently come back to in class: Be with your body. It is so easy to let the mind wander off the mat so I love to remind my students to stay present.
My advice to beginner yogis: Be kind to yourself. It's just yoga!
