Meet the Collaborators: CorePower Strength X

Our innovative, high-intensity strength training class was designed by collaborators and teachers who know you best. So you can start each workout knowing it was made to power your potential with every move. Get to know the faces behind our most challenging class to date.
Beth O’Reilly, Director of Innovation & Special Projects, E-RYT 500
As Director of Innovation and Special Projects at CorePower Yoga, I am thrilled to be part of the team that created CorePower Strength X. I currently lead our 300-hour Teacher Training Program and work with our teams to innovate our class formats. I have been with CorePower Yoga since 2007 and have a BS degree in Kinesiology and am E-RYT 500. To develop this class, I worked with a group of CorePower Yoga teachers and studio leaders that have a variety of backgrounds. We met weekly to ideate on format, intention, and create sequence journeys that support our three core formats – Upper Body, Lower Body and Glutes + Core.
The diverse experiences of our team ensured that our sequences were balanced, well-rounded and designed with safety in mind. It was also important that we kept certain components of a CorePower class experience, which is why CorePower Strength X is designed with a core section and two minutes of final rest (Savasana).
Catrina Reeder, Senior Program Manager, E-RYT 500
As Senior Program Manager for CorePower Yoga, and an E-RYT 500 teacher with over 10 years of experience, I spend a lot of time talking about yoga. I love the variety of classes available at CorePower Yoga, so I was very excited to work on our newest class offering. It was so powerful working with a team of experienced minds from across different roles to ideate and create CorePower Strength X. The process of designing this class has been such a great analogy of push/pull in muscle anatomy. Some of our muscles are push muscles - they move things away from you; while some of our muscles are pull muscles - they bring things closer to you.
When you have been doing anything for so long – in my case, yoga – it is tempting to bring things close to you because it is what you know; you may also push things away because they’re different. This class was about finding a balance of both: channel what we and our community love and crave, while also leaning into what is new and unique and shaping that through a CorePower lens.
Branden Collinsworth, Head of Human Performance & Innovation
I’m a human performance coach, yoga teacher, and passionate student of life, with over 20 years of experience in performance training. I’ve been collaborating with CorePower on their newest class innovation, CorePower Strength X. The reason why I originally started training was to escape the stresses of poverty and the streets. It was there that I realized that although the world could be crazy outside, if I could master my inner world, I could do anything.
The intention behind CorePower Strength X is to help people step deeper into their potential. To train their mind, to train their body, to train their heart to be able to show up in life in the most powerful way possible. It’s an opportunity to sweat, energize and intentionalize with community, and in that space, celebrate all that we are.
CorePower Strength X is a complimentary addition to the CorePower Yoga arsenal. Not only are you going to build strength to be a better yoga practitioner or a better athlete – it’s also about building strength for life. It’s only through resistance that we gain strength.
In this class, you will be using heavier weights, working with high-intensity interval training protocols, and you'll be pushing deeper into your range of motions. Whether you’re just starting out or you’re a seasoned athlete, CorePower Strength X is for you.
DJ Lindsey, Resident DJ & Music Curator
I’m Lindsey W., and I’m CorePower’s resident DJ and music curator. I have been part of the working group of talented and knowledgeable yoga and fitness instructors who have worked hard to create this new format.
The songs we use in CorePower Strength X are high energy, fun, and motivating. I’m pulling from many different genres like pop, house, rock, hip hop, and remixes, so there truly is something for everyone. I always want our playlists to feel uplifting and support artists with different backgrounds to really feel inclusive.
For other CorePower classes, most playlist formats have a physical and energetic bell curve. In CorePower Strength X, we start high and pretty much stay up for the duration of class until the cool down. This class is more time-based – the playlist and the music support the class rather than drive it.
We moved away from beat-driven sequences in certain sections like we do for Yoga Sculpt. This opens up exciting new musical opportunities. Songs that are no-brainer workout jams, but are challenging to move to the beat, will show up in this class. I’m so excited about students getting to tap into the full range of motion that is hard to do at a certain BPM.
