“...This opportunity is of great significance to me, and I am excited about the prospect of furthering my yoga education and sharing my passion to underserved and marginalized communities. I am driven to participate in the teacher training program at Core Power Yoga because I believe in the transformative power of yoga. Throughout my journey, yoga has been a source of solace, empowerment, and self-discovery. I am eager to deepen my understanding of yoga philosophy, anatomy, and teaching methodologies to enhance my ability to share this profound practice with others”

“I have been on a sort of spiritual journey for the last several years, trying to understand my purpose in this world and how best I can use my time here to have an impact and leave each community better than it was when I entered it… Accordingly, I signed up for teacher training to take my thought process for self-reflection, self-inquiry, and self-discovery to another level. I want to indulge myself in the yoga philosophy and lifestyle to add another layer of possibility for how to live the best life for me. Through teacher training, I hope to acquire a deeper understanding of myself, what motivates me, and what makes me the best version of myself. Teacher training will open my mind to areas otherwise undiscovered and, as before, take me one step closer in the best direction for me.”

“Through this training I hope to gain the skills to begin my journey of becoming a yoga instructor who centers inclusiveness in their teaching. I want to also accomplish and fulfill my goal of providing yoga classes to those who are serving our city (teachers, social workers, non profit professionals).”

“I completed my 200hr YTT through CorePower and had an incredible experience - not only did I meet some of my closest friends, I also left the experience with more than I could've asked for. The virtual sessions allowed me to meet community members across the US and the in-person sessions brought me a local community that I am so grateful for. Finding a community and making friends post-college as an adult is hard, I love that yoga TT gave me an opportunity to do so! I learned about anatomy, deepened my personal practice and built confidence to become a teacher and how to be an advocate for those who feel that there are barriers to entry for yoga. When the opportunity came around to further my yoga journey even more through the 300hr program, I couldn't miss it!”

Oluchi O., Los Angeles, CA

“I signed up for the CorePower Teacher Training program because I appreciate CorePower’s commitment to increasing the accessibility of yoga and promoting diversity within the yoga community. I already completed my 200-hour training and I’m passionate about teaching yoga so I wanted to do my 300-hour training to advance my skills as a teacher further. I’m excited to do a YTT that is online with both live and recorded sessions because it will keep the training accessible to me with my busy schedule but will also keep me accountable and on track during my training with the live sessions.”

“I was so inspired by the impact and knowledge that all the CorePower teachers have, and I want to give back to my community in the same way. I hope to be the representation that I was trying to find when I first started! :)”

CorePower Yoga Power Love Scholarship recipient: Miyishiai, smiling for a headshot

Miyishia S., Brooklyn, NY

“I signed up for the Teachers Training Program to deepen my yoga practice. During the pandemic, I took my 200-HR teacher training virtually and while completing my hours, used yoga as a way to connect with family and friends from a distance. Often introducing them as first-time practitioners of yoga. That magic showcased my love for teaching yoga and I want to continue to grow and learn as an instructor.”

CorePower Yoga Power Love Scholarship recipient: Jeannette, smiling for a headshot in front of a Buddha statue

Jeannette V., Chicago, IL

“My best friend, a Latina yoga instructor, inspired me by inviting me to one of her CorePower yoga classes and making me feel welcome as it was my first time attending yoga. I aspire to be that instructor who fosters a welcoming atmosphere, making the studio an inclusive and comfortable community. While I thoroughly enjoy attending yoga classes, I aim to delve deeper into the essence of yoga beyond its physical aspects and cultivate an understanding of its origins. This journey will serve as a means for both myself and others to navigate mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical healing.”

CorePower Yoga Power Love Scholarship recipient: Lienna, smiling for a headshot

Lienna F., Washington, D.C.

“I signed up for this program because I want to deepen my yoga practice and better understand the fundamentals of yoga to share with my community. In my day job, I am a social justice activist and policy advocate fighting for the rights of Black communities and women. This work can be emotionally, physically and spiritually taxing, so I started to rely on yoga and other somatic practices to relieve stress and cultivate joy. I signed up to become a yoga teacher because I want to share that joy, peace and self love practice with Black communities across the DMV area in a culturally relevant, affordable way.”

What are you most looking forward to about Teacher Training?

Jeremiah L., Washington D.C.

“I am most looking forward to being in a welcoming space with others who want to learn to become a teacher or enhance their practice.”

Shay D., Chicago, IL

“I am looking forward to learning more about myself during teacher training. I'm excited to learn about different methods of self-inquiry and self-discovery and add them to my personal toolkit. I think yoga offers profound experiences and opportunities to really think deeply about who you are today and who you want to be and I'm thrilled to have an opportunity to engage in the question on the deepest level I've known -- through yoga.”

Kebrina J., Denver, CO

“During the program, my primary goal is to refine my teaching skills, incorporating advanced techniques and insights into my classes. I aspire to cultivate a more profound connection between mind, body, and spirit for both myself and my future students. Additionally, I aim to deepen my knowledge of inclusivity and diversity in yoga, ensuring that my classes are accessible and welcoming to individuals of all backgrounds and abilities.”

Jeannette V., Chicago, IL

“I’m anticipating connecting with the instructors and fellow trainees, stepping out of my comfort zone, and exploring the many different yoga classes and workshops. Additionally, I look forward to exploring yoga philosophy and embodying the other elements of yoga to deepen my understanding both on and off the mat. I’m thrilled to see where this journey will lead me on my path to self-development and self-awareness.”

Lily C., Scottsdale, AZ

“I'm really looking forward to continuing to add onto my existing yoga practice and working knowledge. I'm also excited to continue diving deeper into the anatomy of poses and scientific-based benefits so that I can continue to grow as a teacher and make yoga accessible for all communities.”

Lienna F., Washington, D.C.

“I'm looking forward to learning about the history and fundamentals of yoga and connecting them to liberation and healing in a community of other yogis. I also hope that the TT program will hold me accountable to developing a regular, consistent yoga practice.”

Oluchi O., Los Angeles, CA

“I genuinely have a passion for learning. I‘m excited to learn more about the benefits of yoga for the mind and body. I’m excited to learn more about Ayurveda, meditation, and pranayama and how I can further integrate these into my practice and my classes. I’m also looking forward to learning about ways to make yoga more accessible to people of different abilities and different backgrounds.”

Daniela M., Seattle, WA

“The community, meeting the most amazing cohort and learning about the yoga history more in depth from some of the most knowledgeable teachers out there!”

Miyishia S., Brooklyn, NY

“I'm looking forward to expanding my knowledge in yoga philosophy and technique as well as learning more about anatomy. Learning more about how our body, breath, and spirit come together by delving into how bodies operate through movement is fascinating to me.”
