How did Roam Loud come to life? What is the origin story?
ROAM LOUD was birthed from my personal fitness journey. Around 2017/2018, I was in a consistent rhythm with exercise. I was in the gym almost daily, and skipping a day felt like something was missing. While my attendance was almost perfect, my activewear fits were lackluster. A friend of mine told me about an activewear sample sale, and I took advantage of it. That night I went to the gym with my new set on and I felt amazing. Going to the gym after work was something I enjoyed doing, it was a great stress reliever. The shift I felt in my spirit that night was something I wanted to recreate for women like myself over and over again.

What is one important lesson you’ve learned throughout your journey in building Roam Loud?
I am always learning and re-learning that I need to be my best self mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically for the brand to be at its best. I do this by covering the basics first; such as getting a full night’s sleep, eating three balanced meals, and taking time to rest and play.

Can you explain more about your title at Roam Loud: Wanderer in Chief?
Yes! People of the Roam Loud community are called Wanderers. They have stepped up to the challenge to move through the world on their own terms. As the creator of the brand and the woman in charge challenging myself to move boldly, Wanderer in Chief felt like a fitting title.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs who are looking to bring their passions to life? Can you share one or two pieces of advice?
One piece of advice I get asked about often is overcoming the fear of starting a business. These people have the desire to start something or they are on the verge of launching their business but they are scared so they put it off.
My response often is, if you don’t believe in your business no one will. You have to sit with yourself, while scared, make a decision, and be honest. It’s only you and yourself. Do you really want this or do you not? And either choice is okay to make. However, one choice you tried and the outcome could be, beyond your wildest dreams. The latter choice may always have you wondering, what if you had taken a chance on yourself?

How do you incorporate mindfulness into your daily life?
Lately, I have been working on creating an atmosphere to allow for mindfulness. Two ways I have done that are by trying out social media-free mornings and reducing my social media screen time throughout the day. Using a sunlight alarm clock was the perfect substitution for not using my phone as my alarm and has allowed me to focus on stretching, meditation, and expressing gratitude in the morning. Also, activating screen time restrictions on my phone during my work day is helpful but I am definitely a work in progress in that category.
What inspires you?
As cliche as it sounds, lately, the world around me has been my inspo board. In the moments that I need clarity, I go outside. When I need to connect to myself, I spend time near water. Intentionally putting time aside to spend it outside has allowed me to discover true beauty and color palettes in Mother Nature herself.
If you could give advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Continue to be creative. Try it all and if it’s not something you enjoy, simply move on. Be curious, if it interests you, try it. Trust yourself and your gifts, everything you need, you possess within.
