Standing Splits is a beneficial posture that can be cued at any point in class. When cued toward the beginning of class, the posture helps stretch and lengthen the quadriceps and hamstrings. When cued during the balancing series, the posture helps strengthen the legs. Whenever it should come up in class, it is very important to focus on correct alignment.
