Spring is officially upon us, and spring cleaning is synonymous with this time of year.  It’s a time to refresh, reset and implement new beginnings!  It’s also great time to practice Saucha.

Saucha is one of the five yoga Niyamas. The Niyamas are observances that relate directly to how you behave outwardly in the world.  Saucha translates to cleanliness or purity, and includes cleansing the mind, body and spirit. April is a great month to observe Saucha, and here are a few ways you can incorporate this practice into your daily routine:

Meditate

Set aside a few minutes every day to quiet your mind and focus on the present.  Meditation is a great way to clear your thoughts and stay grounded.

Dry brush

A detoxifying practice that involves brushing away dead skin cells.  Benefits of dry brushing include exfoliation and increases circulation.

Oil pull

An Ayurvedic ritual that removes toxins from the body.

Donate

Clean out your closet and donate your lightly used yoga mat or clothing to a local charity.

Happy spring cleaning!
