On February 15th, we announced the newest recipients of our Power Love Teacher Training Scholarships. These recipients were selected from a group of very talented and passionate applicants, and we are so excited to welcome them into our Teacher Training program. We asked a few of them why they signed up for the program and what excites them most about teacher training. We're thrilled to share some of their stories with you.

Additionally, we wanted to check in on a few past recipients of our Power Love Teacher Training Scholarship, to see what they have been up to and what they learned during their time going through CorePower Yoga Teacher Training. Read on for some of their experiences as well.

Why did you sign up for the CorePower Teacher Training Program?

Jenna C., Denver, CO

Jenna C., Denver, CO

"Yoga has been a regular part of my life for the past 10+ years, and I've always welcomed the opportunity to learn more and go deeper. As an experienced fitness instructor (zumba & barre), yoga has always been the one exercise that was just for me, and my body, and I could use more of that especially after the stress and uncertainty of the past two years. I am excited to learn, challenge myself, and support representation of people of color in yoga."

Danielle S., New York, NY

Danielle S., New York, NY

"I signed up for the CorePower TT program because I have benefited tremendously from yoga and I want to share this gift with others, particularly those in the Power Love community. When I leave a CorePower class, I feel strong and confident– a result of CorePower's unique balance of athletic rigor and mindfulness. I'm excited to learn this technique so I can guide others in advancing their health and exploring their mind-body connection."

Emily Z., Chicago, IL

Emily Z., Chicago, IL

"I received the Power Love scholarship during Covid and it totally transformed my life and my practice. TT is the best possible way to deepen your practice and I look forward to continuing my education and taking it to the next level!"

Varna K., New York, NY

Varna K., New York, NY

"I become my most conscious version of myself when I practice yoga and I want to engage with that version of myself more through yoga teacher training. Through the Corepower TT Program, my goal is to become a better community member and ultimately a better future physician and public health professional to my future patient population."

Lyric F., Oakland, CA

Lyric F., Oakland, CA

"I signed up for the CorePower TT program to truly understand the art of yoga. I love doing yoga and stretching my body for fun, but I believe when you step into the realm of learning how to teach something, you really have to immerse yourself in the subject. It's also important to me to see more Black and other POC instructors leading classes. It's encouraging to see someone who looks like you being great at something you're just starting in."

Clarke F., Atlanta, GA

"I want to share the beauty of yoga with populations of people that typically wouldn't be exposed to its teachings."

Billie M., Dallas, TX

Billie M., Dallas, TX

"I was looking for a way to both deepen my practice and knowledge of yoga, and do something I'm passionate about for work. The idea of sharing something that has impacted my life in such a strong way with others, and with my community is incredibly exciting!"

What was the most memorable thing about Teacher Training or, what are you looking forward to?

Latasha T., Mount Laurel, NJ

Latasha T., Mount Laurel, NJ

"The most memorable thing about teacher training with CorePower Yoga was how down-to-earth the Lead Teachers/Instructors were. They were so relatable, authentic, and fun to be with during classes. They made you feel part of the team, as they always referred to us all as 'team'. I felt like I was part of something more than just a teacher training, we were a unit...a collective changing the world, impacting people."

Almetria T., Memphis, TN

Almetria T., Memphis, TN

"The most memorable thing about yoga teacher training was how personable, welcoming and open the yoga trainers were considering we were doing live classes three days a week over Zoom and having the ability to seek additional help and guidance if need be during Saturday afternoon check-ins. Yoga means union. Even though we weren't doing TT in person, I still felt like I was in community."

Rishika K., Chicago, IL

Rishika K., Chicago, IL

"I feel lucky to be able to learn ancient practices from people who honor and respect these traditions, as well as honor and respect the life experiences of their students. It is the definition of human beings coming together for good, investing in themselves and in each other."

Andrea M., Atlanta, GA

"For me, interacting with my cohort was most memorable. I learned so much from not only the instructors but from the other TT students."

Rochelle J., Walnut Creek, CA

"Building new relationships with teachers across the country. Learning self adjustments and trusting my own body."

Amy S., Naperville, IL

"How emotionally healing it was. I knew that it had the potential to deepen my practice but it did so much more for me on a personal and emotional level."

Dr. Angelina D., Denver, CO

"The structure, professionalism and engaging topics that were diverse and included multiple opportunities for new learning outside of the yoga flow."

Joshua E., Chino, CA

"I am looking forward to learning more about my yoga practice and hopefully become an amazing instructor like all of my favorite yoga instructors at CorePower."

Donna K., Broomfield, CO

"Meeting my friend and CorePower TT study-buddy, Maura. We worked together over Zoom to refine cues, postures, and prepare for auditions. Since then, we have practiced in-person in Colorado and Illinois."

What else would you like to share?

Bianca P., Brooklyn, NY

Bianca P., Brooklyn, NY

"Yoga serves as a reminder that change can happen, but that it is also a process. It can be challenging in many ways, yet also forgiving. It is an artform of plating your roots and allowing yourself to flourish, stronger than before. I am so grateful for the space CorePower Yoga has created, through this scholarship, to deepen my knowledge of yoga."

Irma S

Irma S., Chicago, IL

"I'm super pumped about CorePower taking steps towards a lack of diversity in the fitness and health industry. I am over the moon to have the opportunity to become part of the CorePower family."

Jennifer H., Honolulu, HI

Jennifer H., Honolulu, HI

"I loved the Diversity and Equity liaison who came to speak with us periodically. She was a gem. She made me feel more comfortable being a part of this experience. There were moments when I felt less comfortable, unfortunately, so personally I wish she was around more. Especially in my Hot Power Fusion major."

Bella L., Minneapolis, MN

Bella L., Minneapolis, MN

"It's a surreal experience to get to be a part of the CorePower program now because when I started yoga, I couldn't afford classes. CorePower's [SET] program (that gave discounted memberships) was something that I participated in so that I could go to classes. To be at a position where I can now lead and advocate for more accessibility and affordability in the yoga and wellness space is something that I am passionate about."

Karely H., Washington, D.C

Karely H., Washington, D.C

"I firmly believe that by participating in Teacher Training I will be able to help more people come into their light and find resiliency within themselves through the healing powers of yoga that I've experienced. Not only do I want to demonstrate that all bodies can "do yoga," I also want to empower people of color to live knowing and feeling that they matter, and that self-care through living healthier lifestyles is not only for those who look the part."
