We recently announced the newest recipients of our Power Love Teacher Training Scholarships - and we’re so excited! Scholarship recipients were selected from so many thoughtful applications, and we are so grateful to all that applied. At CorePower Yoga, our goal is to diversify representation within the yoga community and having passionate individuals like our scholarship recipients help us work toward achieving that goal.

We asked a few of these scholarship recipients why they signed up for Teacher Training, and what excites them most about starting this journey. We’re excited to share their truly inspiring stories with you. Thank you, all!

Why did you sign up for CorePower Teacher Training?

Rafa F., Queens, NY

“I want to deepen my understanding of yoga as a holistic practice encompassing not only the physical postures but also the rich history, philosophy, and principles that guide it. I want to expand my knowledge of anatomy and Ayurveda, as well as explore the roots and evolution of yoga, so that I can give my future students a comprehensive and authentic experience.”

“Pursuing a long-held aspiration, I'm now transforming my dream into reality.”

Christina L., San Diego, CA

“I want to gain a deeper knowledge of the yoga practice in order to share its power and teachings with others in my community. I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact of a daily yoga practice in my own life and would love to be able to spread that positivity and strength to others.”

Ryan H., Miami, FL

“I felt that I was rushing into complicated poses without fully understanding the simple ones. Teacher training will help me get back to the basics and have a solid foundation with proper alignment on my poses so that I can do those new, fancy variations. However, all the in-person teacher training that I was looking into was too expensive for me to afford. I’m so grateful that CorePower gave me a full scholarship so I can actually afford teacher training.”

Asha B., Yorba Lina, CA

“Simply put - yoga saved my life. During my darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, I turned to yoga to guide me towards a path of peace and self-fulfillment. Each time I step on the mat, I am reminded that life is actually a lot like yoga. Just like life, yoga will stretch and pull you in different ways that feel uncomfortable and even impossible to master. Every time I fall out of a pose, I am reminded of the skill of trying again. Every time I feel my mind overthinking a sequence, I am reminded of the skill of focusing on my breath. Every time I feel my body fighting to get out of a difficult pose, I am reminded of the skill of tolerating discomfort. Yoga has been an essential tool in aiding me through life's toughest moments. I signed up for the CorePower TT program because I want to equip my community with the skills and tools they need to live life to the fullest!”

“I signed up for CorePower’s teacher training program because it has always been a dream of mine to become a yoga teacher. Yoga has changed my life in indescribable ways - it has brought me community, it has helped me with my anxiety, and most importantly, it has allowed me to adopt healthier habits in my daily life. Upon graduation, I can’t wait to share my knowledge and burning passion with those on the same journey.”

Elisha C., Dallas, TX

“When I first started my yoga journey years back, it was one I started alone. I hadn’t yet found a community that felt supportive of me and my life experiences. I signed up for yoga teacher training to bridge that gap for other women like me. I desire to become that familiar face that makes others want to come to the studio and leave it all on the mat so they can conquer their many tomorrows with mental clarity and alignment.”

What are you looking forward to about Teacher Training?

Rafa F., Queens, NY

“As a person of color, I recognize the importance of representation and diversity in the yoga community. I believe that by becoming a yoga teacher, I can contribute to making yoga more accessible and inclusive for individuals who may feel marginalized or underrepresented. By sharing my own experiences and cultural perspectives, I hope to create a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds can feel comfortable and empowered to embark on their own yoga journey. I have been to many yoga classes, and barely see others of Indian heritage and upbringing teaching the classes, so I think it would be really nice to connect with my own roots and share my culture’s practices with others.”

Ryan L., Denver, CO

“Envisioning a path where I can connect with fellow yogis, guide as an instructor, and provide vital emotional support to others.”

Christina L., San Diego, CA

“Learning about the history and philosophies of yoga, applying these lessons to my own experiences, and hopefully benefiting others with my new skills.”

Ryan H., Miami, FL

“I want to join a community of like-minded individuals who take their yoga practice seriously. This is an opportunity for me to forge lifelong friendships while also deepening my understanding of myself.”

Asha B., Yorba Lina, CA

“I am looking forward to connecting and learning from a group of like-minded individuals who care about self growth and development! I can't wait to gain the knowledge and skill set needed to share the gift of yoga to my community.”

Kaleen W., Rahway, NJ

“I am mostly looking forward to growing alongside other yoga students working to become yoga teachers. I’m extremely big on community and I believe that this experience will be life changing for all of us. I look forward to gaining lifelong friends.”

Elisha C., Dallas, TX

“I look forward to the camaraderie, the shared passion for yoga, and the opportunity to cultivate lifelong friendships with like-minded individuals who, like me, are on a quest for growth, self-discovery.”

What else would you like to share?

Ryan L., Denver, CO

“Just to thank CorePower for the opportunity. You have no idea what it means to me and how committed I am to developing the amazing skills you all teach.”

Ryan H., Miami, FL

“I live in Miami, but I believe that I will get more out of my yoga teacher training by doing it in-person, therefore I will be moving to Washington DC and joining that CorePower community for the nine weeks of training!”

Asha B., Yorba Lina, CA

“Some fun facts about me: 1) I'm a Taylor Swift super fan! My favorite song is All Too Well (10 minute version - obviously!), 2) I am currently Miss Anaheim Hills, 2023, and 3) I have been volunteering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness for the past 8 years.
