Supine Twist Pose

Congratulations, you’ve made it to the end of another long day at ye ole office. Before you crumple into a ball in your cozy yoga pants on your couch with a libation of choice, or before you go to sleep, give your body a chance to recover with this End of the Day Series of poses to soak in all of yoga's benefits.

Pose 1: Legs-Up-The-Wall Pose (Sanskrit Name: Viparita Karani): If you work on your feet all day, this is a great pose to rest your legs as it reduces swelling and releases your lower back.

Pose 2: Wind Removing Pose (Sanskrit Name: Pavanamuktasana): Lying on your back, bend one knee and squeeze that leg toward your armpit. Interlace your fingers on top of that knee, allowing the other leg to extend long onto the floor. Squeeze firmly and hold for 3-5 breaths. Then repeat on the other side. Finally, squeeze both knees into your chest, wrapping both arms around your shins and grabbing the opposite elbow. Allow your head to rest onto the floor.

Pose 3: Supine Twist (Sanskrit Name: Supta Matsyendrasana): Lying down, bend your knees at a 90-degree angle with your feet on the floor. Keeping your eyes closed, allow both knees to fall to the right side, then extend your arms out to each side and look toward your left. Stay there for 5 slow breaths, then repeat on the other side.
