"The intensive training surpassed my hopes and expectations. Jae and Sheri prepared me to be an effective, knowledgeable, and inspiring teacher. I am not the same person I was before the training, as my personal practice has reached a new level, and I am now a teacher far greater than I had envisioned. Thank you, and Namasté." Kat Casey
"When I took the Core Power Training, I really just wanted to deepen my practice and get better in touch with the strengths and weaknesses in my body. But now, I feel empowered to take it to the next level and begin going down the path to become a Yoga Teacher. After the training, I felt very centered and balanced and was able to take that calm into the workplace to help reduce my overall stress level. So whether you are interested in learning to be a yoga teacher, deepening your practice, or just becoming more centered and balanced, this training is an excellent way to find your inner self. Thank you." Michelle Abel
"The 9 days we spent together in CorePower Yoga Teacher Training were life changing for me. I deepened my mindfulness in my practice, learned about my strengths and weaknesses in practicing yoga and in life as well as developed a strong desire to further my training. The training was just the right mix of practice and study. I am grateful for the time and experience." Stacey Dunlap
“Thank you for sending Jae and Sheri to Decatur Yoga and Pilates. The Travel Training program was an incredible experience. I am blessed to have been a part of it. Jae and Sheri gave me a whole new perspective on Yoga, Yoga students, and teaching Yoga. Jae’s joyful enthusiasm is contagious and healing. She inspired me to extend and open myself. Sheri’s quiet strength exudes as she teaches creating a safe place for exploration and reflection. I look forward to an opportunity to work with them again.” Susan Moore
"When I signed up for this training, I assumed it would be challenging physically. I had no idea that in addition to strengthening my asana practice, it would also be a training in emotional and spiritual growth. Jae and Sheri have an intuitiveness that I have rarely seen, each one of them able to be present and helpful to each student and his or her individual needs. The training was intense and invigorating, and it included learning about physical postures, plus philosophy as well. I had constant encouragement to continue to grow as a teacher and a student, and while I found myself out of my comfort zone quite often, I had the most amazing feeling of accomplishment and growth as a result. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to evolve as a student and/or a teacher, and I will definitely take future trainings with Core Power again if I get the opportunity. Thanks Jae and Sheri!!" Lisa
"I just completed a nine-day CorePower intensive teacher training program instructed by Jae Murphy and Sheri Colosimo. These instructors are amazing resources, eager to share their love of yoga. Jae and Sheri are both very intuitive and compassionate individuals who are clearly committed to helping all trainees maximize their potential. They were great role models of how a yoga teacher should be open and serve their students' needs. For example, I once asked a Sanskrit question and the next day Sheri impressed me with her dedication by following up her shorter answer with more detail and a reference where I could learn even more.
Each trainee was encouraged to find his or her own unique teaching voice. It was fun to see my peers finding their way through this process – we learned so much from each other! The training decomposed several aspects of effectively using the language of teaching: being precise and direct in word choice, using active verbs, projecting the voice with authority and modulating its tone in guiding students to transition in or out of certain postures and during high energy or restorative sections of the class. Jae and Sheri provided extensive feedback on our practice teaching daily, with clear goals tailored for each student's teaching refinement.
Jae and Sheri alternated teaching yoga classes throughout the week, which was very useful in demonstrating different teaching styles to us. Having them both present in the class brought other benefits as well. Typically, as one would verbally guide the class, the other would continually move through the studio making physical adjustments, enabling us to improve and deepen our postures. By receiving this personal attention multiple times in a class, as well as having training time devoted to safely making physical adjustments on another person, we were shown how to begin to use touch to guide our future students.
The lectures and guided conversations exploring the eight-limbed yogic path were very interesting. There was so much more to the training than simply memorizing a particular sequence of yoga postures. We were encouraged to take our yoga off the mat, to develop ourselves in new ways and engage life more authentically and compassionately. At times we were pushed to the point of discomfort but, afterwards, it was clear how Jae and Sheri were revealing strengths to each trainee that we didn't know we had! They were unconditionally supportive at every step in our training.
Though the week was quite demanding, both physically and mentally, the instructors were sensitive in reading our group energy level and flexibly adjusting their approaches to meet the trainees where we were in the moment. The training was a real challenge for me, but also one of the best learning experiences I have ever had. Those nine days were powerfully transformative! At the beginning of the week, I expected that I might not feel comfortable teaching yoga immediately after completing this program. However, by the end of the intensive training, I have confidence and enthusiasm about my abilities as a teacher. I know I have much more to learn and refine, but I am also confident that I could walk into a studio and teach my own yoga class. I enjoy the asana sequence of CorePower's Hot Power Fusion practice and am eager for my first teaching opportunity to share it with others. Without any reservations, I recommend CorePower training to anyone motivated to extend themselves as both a practitioner and a teacher." Stephanie M. Shorter, Ph.D.
