Thank you for practicing Karma Yoga!

The Karma Yoga ProjectCorePower Yoga would like to invite you to take your yoga practice to the next level by taking action to promote positive change within the community through our new Karma Yoga Project. This project involves the spiritual practices of Karma Yoga, the yoga of action, and Seva, selfless service.

Karma Yoga is working with complete awareness, but without attachment to the fruits of the labor or outcome of the work. The doing of the work is the end in itself, not a means for the ego to attain some reward, payment or anything else.

Seva, in the yoga tradition, is thought to be one of the most powerful forms of spiritual practices. Seva is the only form of spiritual practice where the focus is not on oneself, but where the love is shared between yourself and those you serve.

California

CorePower Yoga California studios are thrilled to have an opportunity to give free yoga to cancer survivors through Yoga Bear. Visit www.yogabear.org for more information, or to find out how to participate.

Colorado

CorePower Yoga's Karma Yoga Project Denver is seeking volunteers to work with Urban Peak.

Urban Peak helps young people overcome homelessness and other real life challenges by providing safety, respect, essential services and a supportive community, empowering them to become self-reliant adults.

Volunteer duties: Bring your favorite dinner dish, dessert and beverage to share with a large group. The volunteer coordinator will work with the group to determine what is needed each month. Build relationships and open your heart to those supported by Urban Peak by eating dinner with them that night.

To sign up for an Urban Peak volunteer shift, please email Jessica.  For more information on this organization, please visit  www.urbanpeak.org.

Minnesota

CorePower Yoga Minneapolis has created a Karma Yoga program in acknowledgment of the four pillars of yoga. We believe selfless service is an important aspect of yoga, and offer this program to our students as an opportunity to grow in humility, service and grace. CorePower Yoga Minnesota started its Karma Projects in April of 2007. Since then, we’ve partnered with several different organizations once per month in service to the Minneapolis and St. Paul community.

Since April 2007, Karma Yoga Minnesota has served food to people in need through the Dorothy Day Center and People Serving People. We’ve painted and prepared new apartments for homeless individuals moving into new homes, and we’ve partnered with 2nd Harvest Heartland in distributing food to local soup kitchens and families in need. We’ve served Twin Cities Marathon runners before their race, made gingerbread houses with underprivileged youth, rakes leaves for senior citizens in North Minneapolis, and helped preserve the land along the Mississippi River bluffs just miles from our St. Paul studio.

We guide our students to leading an extraordinary life through all of our wellness programs, and through our Karma Yoga project, participants not only grow within themselves, but greatly impact the community around them.

Interested in participating in an upcoming Karma Yoga project?  Please contact Tory with your interest and questions.
